Coyotes Win the Extravaganza Tournament!
Submitted By Liz Ubaldi on Monday, February 10, 2020
The Soo Carpet One Coyotes of the Novice Major Tier 1 division captured the Soo Peewee Hockey League Extravaganza championship with a perfect 5-0 record throughout the tournament.  This is the second weekend in a row that the Coyotes went undefeated in tournament play to earn championship victories.

During round robin play the Coyotes earned victories over Soo Police, Copper Cliff Reds and DK Designs with respective scores of 6-4, 6-4 and 3-1.

The semi-final action between Coyotes and Copper Cliff Reds was a hard battled and seesaw contest that saw three lead changes with the Coyotes earning the victory with a 6-3 final score.

The championship finals stage was set as the Coyotes took on DK Design for a second time in the tournament in front of a fan packed arena.   Both teams came out to play from the drop of the puck but it was the Coyotes that took the early 1-0 lead.  It wasn’t long before DK Design pulled out ahead with a 2-1 lead proving they came to play.  The Coyotes bent but didn’t break scoring five unanswered goals to regain the lead and move ahead 6-2.  DK Design continued to fight hard scoring another goal before the Coyotes scored the final tally to end the game with a 7-3 victory.  The score was not indicative of the level of competiveness, as DK Design played a hard fought game right to the very end, challenging the Coyotes at every turn.

The Coyotes displayed incredibly strong performances from the start of the tournament to the final minute of the championship game with a noticeable effort from each and every player throughout the lineup.

Congratulations to this amazing group of young boys and especially the coaches who prepared them so well prior to each and every game, and led them to not only this win but an astonishing 10 wins in 10 days over the course of both championship victories.
